I spent a really long time on this piece because I took me a while to get the texture of the ring holder (I actually used a fan brush and lightly dabbed it on the canvas to get it's texture; My friend, Emmaly gave me this idea and I am really happy that she did). I kind of surprised myself with this piece because it looks better than what I imagined it to look like. The highlights I put in the rings are my favorite part because it makes the rings look way more realistic and 2-dimensional. Along with the highlights, I love how the shadows look under the rings, it just makes the whole piece so much better.
When I compare the jewelry to the perfume bottles in the background, it looks like I spent less time painting the perfume bottles and it just doesn't look as appealing as the jewelry does. So I think I need to go back and fix that if I have the time.
After I finished this piece, I could start to see my concentration coming together and it made me really happy to know that I am getting closer to the end.
